Over the last month, our Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG) have shown incredible leadership across CPM, developing a range of activities to celebrate Pride and just as importantly, build awareness of the challenges that have and continue to be faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.The ERG has developed a Pride Guide, full of information to help us learn more about Pride and how to support the LGBTQIA+ communities and also brought to life the personal stories of some of our fantastic people about what Pride means to them and their personal experiences. We have also sought perspective from beyond CPM, with an inspiring and honest session with LGBTQIA+ advocate Ben Pechey sharing their personal experience, how we all have a responsibility to be active allies and create an environment where everyone can feel safe and accepted as themselves – including some practical steps we can all take. As part of the Omnicom network, CPM are proud partner with We Create Space, a global collective of Queer Leaders connecting communities with tools, knowledge and support networks for change and growth. Our Pride ERG have done an incredible job of marking Pride month, but this goes beyond the month of June – it is about awareness and allyship all year round. At CPM we are committed to making our business a more diverse, equitable and inclusive place to be, and continue to challenge and identify the change needed in our organisation for all our people to thrive in and out of work.
As we learned from Ben, change can come from the smallest of actions – don’t underestimate the power of your support, understanding and empathy.
